Hardware Design Engineer

Job Purpose
The Hardware Design Engineer, as part of the larger product development team, provides design engineering of integrated products including electronics, software, mechanical, reliability, RF & optical design for discrete and microelectronic scale devices. Individual contributor tasks include hands-on simulation, design and verification of advanced mixed-signal electronics for various optical & RF, analog to high-speed applications. Our Dallas Design Engineering team is the center for integrating the various advanced technologies AMT builds from the larger product development, NPI & manufacturing teams.
Nature of Duties/Responsibilities
Ideal candidates will have a broad technical background and thrive in a fast-paced high-tech development environment. Development product outputs may range from technology proof-of-concept and evaluation prototypes to production-ready, high-volume products.
Individual responsibilities will include specification & requirements documentation, concept and detailed design, participation in multi-disciplinary engineering design reviews, component selection, oversight of circuit board layout, prototyping with product bring-up testing and DVT (verification). Additionally we expect individual contributor engineers to communicate in technical client meetings, help prepare estimates of work, and critically evaluate multi-disciplinary product development effort from cradle to design release.
Client markets include communications, photonics, quantum technologies, medical sensing, automotive, transportation, commercial, and energy sectors. Knowledge of how components, materials, and manufacturing processes affect a product’s performance is necessary. Familiarity with high-speed comms design and manufacturing is highly desirable.
Education and Experience
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or relevant experience with 8 years design experience. Areas of experience should include:

We are looking for innovative and energetic individuals who are capable of delivering product solutions with on-time results for multiple simultaneous projects with a minimal amount of supervision.
